the elegant drape of its variegated leaves,
tipped in tiny white flowers
and tasseled with new growth.
Praise God for my father,
whose hands still shaky from a stroke
sifted soil to pot the first of these plants
now nestled in my yard for many years.
Praise God for new growth
continuing to spring forth –
reminding me of constant love
and his ongoing life in You.
